Alexandros Papageorgiou, CEO

Mr. Papageorgiou has a long and successful European experience in the Energy sector. He has worked as Head of Origination and Head of Logistics and Operations in Energy companies in Italy, while during the last six years prior to his actual role, he was a Key Account Manager of power and environmental markets as well as a Senior Sales Manager for Southern Europe at the European Energy Exchange, based in Milan.

Mr. Papageorgiou holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Economics as well as a MSc in Environmental Economics and Energy Management from the University of Bocconi, Italy. He was born and raised in Athens.

Dimosthenis Voivontas, Member

Dimosthenis Voivontas is the Chief Executive Officer of the Renewable Energy Sources and Guarantees of Origin Operator (DAPEEP S.A.).

He has more than 20 years of professional experience in the energy, industrial and investment sectors, with expertise in renewable energy, project portfolio management, state aid schemes and strategic investments.

As Director General at the Ministry of National Economy and Finance, he coordinated the financing and implementation of projects and programmes under the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF). Previously, as Director of Strategic Investments at the Ministry of Development, he was responsible for the licensing of Projects of Common Interest (PCI) in the natural gas and electricity sectors. He also designed and implemented state aid programmes in the energy and industrial sectors and was involved in the environmental permitting of energy projects and industrial infrastructure.

He holds a Diploma in Chemical Engineering and a PhD from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), as well as an MBA. His doctoral research focused on energy planning and the maximization of renewable energy integration into the energy system.

Dr. Spiros Papaefthimiou, Member

Dr. Spiros Papaefthimiou is Professor in Technical University of Crete and Affiliate Professor at ESCP Business School, London. His research interests include various aspects of renewables, Life Cycle Assessment and environmental impacts analysis of energy technologies, and "Smart" materials for energy and environmental applications. He has extended academic work with more than 70 papers in peer-reviewed international journals, while he has actively participated in more than 60 research projects. He has presented papers to numerous international energy related conferences and acts as referee for international journals in the area of Renewables, Energy efficiency and Energy policy, while at the same time he is member of the International Association for Energy Economics and the International Solar Energy Society. He has provided lectures and supervised MSc and PhD theses in various academic institutions including ESCP Business School, EADA Spain and Montpellier Business School. He is a President of the Hellenic Association for Energy Economics (HAEE) and has been a member of the "Top 2% of the World's top scientists" for 2022-2025 in the field of Energy, according to the "World’s Top 2% Scientists" ranking published by Stanford University.

Vasileios Gkountis, Member

Dr. Vasileios Gkountis is currently director of market management for IPTO. He holds a diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a PhD degree from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. His professional interests are in energy market economics, design, operation, modelling and analysis. He has been active in energy markets for almost two decades, holding electricity economics expert positions in the Hellenic TSO (HTSO), the former Hellenic Market Operator (LAGIE), and a dutch utility (DELTA). He has also worked for Genscape, as the product manager of EPSI, a power market fundamental analysis platform and was director of strategy and business development for the Hellenic Energy Exchange.

Marinos Christodoulides, Member

Marinos Christodoulides is the Chairman of the Cyprus Stock Exchange since 2018 and the Chief Financial Officer of Latomia Pharmakas Group since 2006. Additionally, Marinos serves as non-executive Director and member of the Audit Committee of the Hellenic Energy Exchange in Athens and as board member of the Cyprus Investment Funds Association (CIFA). He served as Vice-Chairman of the Cyprus Stock Exchange and as non-executive Director and Chairman of the Audit & Risk Committees of the Periferiaki Cooperative Bank of Nicosia, which was part of the Cooperative Central Bank of Cyprus. He started his career in 2000 at the Cyprus Stock Exchange as Officer in the Listing & Accounting division and thereafter as the Head of Internal Audit division. Marinos is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and holds a degree in Economics from the Athens University of Economics and Business. He is member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC) and the Institute of Internal Auditors of Cyprus (IIA Cyprus). He is married and has two children.

Gerasimos Avlonitis, Member

Gerasimos started his professional career in the upstream sector of the hydrocarbon industry in 1996. Based in the UK, he worked in numerous oil and gas production optimization projects in Europe, Middle East and Latin America.

Moving to the downstream sector of the industry, he joined the business development team of Prometheus Gas S.A., a joint company of Gazprom and Copelouzos Group in Greece, involved in gas and power projects. 

In May 2002 he joined the Greek Regulatory Authority for Energy (RAE) as an energy expert, holding the position of Head of the Gas Department from 2005 until the end of 2012. 

Since 2013, he is in the Hellenic Gas Transmission System Operator (DESFA) where he currently holds the position of Senior Director for Market and System Development.

He also represents DESFA in the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Energy Exchange S.A. (Energy Exchange Group - EnEx) since 2018.

Gerasimos has delivered seminars and training courses in gas sector organization, gas pricing and Third-Party Access tariffs in Greece and several other countries in Europe and the Middle East. Since 2014, he is also a visiting lecturer at the Master’s program of the University of Piraeus in Energy: Strategy, Law & Economics.

He holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens and an MSc in Petroleum Engineering from Imperial College, London.

Camille Beudin, Member

Camille Beudin is Member of the Executive Committee at Euronext and Chief Diversification Officer.

Camille has a group mandate to accelerate the generation of expansion opportunities, strengthening Euronext's growth through diverse acquisitions, partnerships and innovative organic projects in new and emerging areas of our business. He is also leading the Diversified Services business line which includes Nord Pool, the leading power market in Europe; Euronext FX, the electronic communication network for foreign exchange and precious metal trading; the agricultural commodity franchise; the investor services business and the technology services activity.

Prior to that, he was Head of Strategic Development and Mergers & Acquisitions at Euronext. Camille Beudin joined Euronext in 2016 to lead the external growth and the strategic development of Euronext. Before joining Euronext, Camille Beudin spent 8 years in the investment banking industry working on corporate finance products such as mergers & acquisitions, equity capital markets advisory and structuring of financing solutions. He was notably Vice President in the Investment Banking Division of Deutsche Bank between 2012 and 2016 and an Associate at Royal Bank of Scotland prior to that. He graduated from EDHEC Business School with a Master in Management.

Camille Beudin is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Athex, Nord Pool, Euronext FX, Commcise and Gatelab. He is also a director of EnEx Group, Oslo Børs, and Euronext Holding Italia.

Tom Darell, Member

Tom Darell is Chief Executive Officer of Nord Pool, the European power exchange. Since joining in April 2022, he has led the company’s operations across multiple European markets, overseeing the physical day-ahead and intraday power trading platform in 16 countries. Established in Norway in 1993 as the world’s first power exchange, Nord Pool is today majority-owned by Euronext.

Mr. Darell has more than 25 years of international leadership experience across the energy, technology and telecommunications sectors. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Europex, the Association of European Energy Exchanges.

Prior to joining Nord Pool, he served as Executive Vice President for Energy at Volue, with responsibility for power trading services, market analysis and forecasting, and optimisation and trading software. He previously held the same position at Powel and has also served as Managing Director of Avaya in Norway and Partner at Beyond Strategy Consulting.

Earlier in his career, he held senior roles at Ericsson, including Vice President and Head of Telecom Software for Southeast Asia & Pacific. He began his career in consulting with Gemini Consulting and Capgemini.

Mr. Darell holds an MBA from IESE Business School in Barcelona, including an exchange programme at Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Oregon.
